In 1998 Cologne celebrated the 750th anniversary of the Cathedral of Cologne. The foundation stone was laid on 15 August 1248 and the cathedral constructed on top of an existing church in Romanesque style. The cathedral was only completed in 1880.

The official home page for the 750th anniversary is only in German.

Also located in Köln is the Deutsche Welle, the German shortwave broadcasting service, now offering a TV service as well.

Several inflation notes issued by the City of Cologne are on display on my friend Richard's web site on Das Notgeld der Deutschen Inflation. Don't get fooled by the title of the web site; the language is English!
